I&amp;#8217;ve been so busy with school and work that I never touch my computer when I have any downtime. BUT, I&amp;#8217;m starting fresh this semester with a different way of eating and moving. I&amp;#8217;m really excited to start this journey so for those of you that still follow me I hope you&amp;#8217;ll stick around!&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;My big plan for this year is to start training myself for longer and longer runs/marathons, starting with a 5k, and doing yoga 3x a week through a university class. I also have been consuming a lot less meat and processed foods. I&amp;#8217;ll start uploading a food journal as well not only to keep myself on track but to provide inspiration for those of you that are thinking about going the vegetarian route! I still plan to eat some sort of lean organic meat once a week though, I really don&amp;#8217;t want to build an intolerance and meat is good for you, just so long as it&amp;#8217;s not shitty, fatty meat. So far I&amp;#8217;ve gone about 3 days without eating meat and I feel really, really good. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Let’s break this down:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;1. “No candy, chocolate, or any other sweets. Even diet Soda is bad for you.”&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;Yes, all mildly true&lt;/em&gt;… Diet sodas contain ridiculous amounts of artificial sugars which cause all manner of problems on their own… HOWEVER, Dark chocolate, in small doses, can promote healthy skin, increased sex drive, and a manner of other things. Just because something is healthy in large doses, doesn’t mean it’s unhealthy in small doses too… Chocolate is one of these. The key is moderation.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;2. “Peanut butter is extremely fatty and unhealthy”&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;True and false at the same time.&lt;/em&gt; For starters, the truth is in the fact that it is high in fat (129g on average to be exact). The myth lies in the fact that fatty = automatically unhealthy. For peanut butter, this is wholly untrue (of coure we’re talking organic, no salt or sugar added peanut butter here). You want to know what peanut butter is good for? Vitamin E (a fat soluable (which means it requires the fat in the food item in order for your body to properly digest and use it) that is responsible for skin health, preventing heart disease, helping to control diabetic and pre-diabetic conditions, life-span increases and anti aging and antioxidant benefits); Niacin (Vitamin B3, responsible for lowering bad cholesterol, helping prevent against heart disease, regulation of metabolic rate, and helps increase cell repair and new cell growth); Protein (responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining body tissue (like muscles, which burn more calories and help you lose weight and keep it off), increases stamina and energy levels, keeps you full longer, helps your body stay hydrated, and helps you produce the correct level of hormones necessary for all body functions.) See, peanut butter isn’t bad at all.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;3. “You have to exercise.”&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;Truth.&lt;/em&gt; ALL truth. You don’t exercise and eat a healthy, balanced diet… You’re not going to get and be able to maintain healthy and sustainable wieghtloss. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;4. “All salad dressings are loaded with fat”&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;Somewhat true, somewhat false.&lt;/em&gt; Conventional salad dressings like Ranch, thousand island, etc… Are disgusting, empty calorie  fat and ick ridden nasties… True. But there are plenty of delicious and low calorie alternatives, like Olive oil, or honey mustard.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;5. “No food for 4 hours before you go to sleep”&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;False.&lt;/em&gt; It doesn’t matter when you eat, truth be told. Your body doesn’t miraculously hold on to calories or not digest things JUST because you’re sleeping. In fact, the items are more likely to get utilized in proper cell reconstruction, etc, if you eat before going to sleep… ESPECIALLY if you’re hungry.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;6. “Do not reward progress with junk food”&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;While a relatively decent rule of thumb… It’s not completely un-ok to reward yourself every now and then. Once again, everything in moderation. If you deny yourself something you want and/or are craving, you’re twice as likely to revert (and stay in) binge cycles.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;7. “Granola is extremely fatty and unhealthy”&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;Somewhat true, somewhat false.&lt;/em&gt; Granola consists (usually) of dried fruits, a sweetener of some sort (usually honey and brown sugar), various nuts, with rolled oats as a base. The only thing that can be unhealthy on that list is the brown sugar. Honey is healthy, rolled oats are healthy, nuts are healthy, and even dried fruit is healthy. So long as you’re paying attention to the sugar content of the granola you’re eating and pick the right type of granola that’s low in sugar… You’ll be all right, and potential health benefits include large amounts of dietary fiber (responsible for a healthy digestive system, particularly the bowels), antioxidants (which help promote against sickness and disease), and other benefits depending on the fruits and nuts used (for instance cranberries significantly help with urinary tract health, while almonds can help lower cholesterol.) Pro-tip: Make your own, that way you get to control what’s in it, and how healthy it actually is.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;8. “Absolutely no energy drinks”&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;If you want to go to a restaurant, fucking go to one.&lt;/em&gt; But instead of eating all the food on your plate (which is usually the equivalent of 3 damned servings anyways), ask for a to-go box off the bat, and when your food arrives, portion yourself out a correctly sized portion, then stick the rest in the to go box for tomorrow.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with this thing and it’s constant dogging on perfectly healthy foods?&lt;/em&gt; Hummus is a paste dish made from ground chickpeas, sesame seeds, and often olive oil and various types of seasonings. Olive Oil alone contains healthy fats that help reduce cholesterol, has the same antioxidants as those found in green tea (all of which have anti-aging benefits, as well as help boost the immune system and make your skin and hair all fucking gorgeous). Chickpeas are fucking LOADED with dietary fiber (remember that stuff that’s responsible for a healthy digestive system?), can help control blood sugar levels (great for diabetic and pre-diabetic people), and reduce bad cholesterol levels. The health benefits of Sesame seeds are much the same.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;12. “Needing to drink 8 glasses of water a day is a myth”&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;em&gt;Ok, what planet did you get this information from? Because no, it is not.&lt;/em&gt; As a matter of fact, if you’re eating healthy and are keeping up a regularly active (especially high impact) workout regime, then you may actually need MORE than the 2.2L recommended daily for women of average age. Water is responsible for all sorts of things. It’s needed to flush your system of toxins, helps your body use stored fat (thus actually helping you LOSE weight), and your fucking kidneys can’t function properly without it. Not to mention all the problems dehydration can cause, like… Oh I don’t fucking know… Weight gain, bloating, brittle skin, hair, and nails, increased fatigue/lack of energy, low blood pressure, rapid heart rate, decreased mental function, etc. DRINK YOUR FUCKING WATER DUMB WHORE. Lack of proper hydration can fucking kill you.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;13. “Never eat a big dinner”&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;While yeah, your dinner should usually be your smallest primary meal of the day… If you’re still hungry, then you need to eat more. Hunger is your body’s way of telling you that you haven’t given it enough fuel. Without fuel, it can’t function properly and you don’t lose weight. Starving it isn’t going to help you lose weight (and in most cases can actually lead to it keeping weight, and you gaining MORE weight instead).&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;14. “Do not allot yourself and binges, ever”&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;While bingeing can be detrimental to weight loss when they occur often and are large in quantity consumes… Don’t fucking kick yourself too hard for it if it happens. For one, a single binge every now and then isn’t going to make you gain 5 trillion fucking pounds. It probably won’t even register on the scale to begin with come tomorrow. If it happens, move passed it… And probably try not follow the advice from points 1, and 2 from this ridiculous info-shit.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;15. “Wraps and subs are loaded with fat and carbs”&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;White it’s true that bread contains a lot of heavy carbs… It’s not completely unhealthy. What you have to watch for is the type of bread and the dressing used. Pro-tip: Don’t pass these things up if they’re what you’re in the mood for. Instead, stay away from “white” bread products and opt fol whole or multigrain instead, which are higher in vitamins and minerals and opt for different dressings that are healthier, OR omit dressing all together, or just ask for it on the side.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;16. “Do not eat store bought fruit or veggie chips”&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;If you don’t have time to make your own? Fucking go for it. Just try to choose a company that has low sugar and preservative content. A few here and there won’t fucking murder you or destroy your progress.&lt;/li&gt;
